I wouldn't recommend playing the first Battletoads with two players though. have two player modes, but all the others do. I don't believe that Mighty Final Fight, Renegade or P.O.W. Not to be confused with Target: Renegade (also a beat 'em up but a really bad one). Renegade - This game gets mixed reviews, but I like it a lot. TMNT III: The Manhattan Project - Like part 2 but better. Mighty Final Fight - Expensive but an excellent game.īattletoads and Battletoads/Double Dragon - Both partial beat 'em ups. It has RPG elements that really add to the experience. River City Ransom - Best beat 'em up on the system imo. It would have been cool if the first one was two player, but it's a classic either way.ġ6-bit systems tend to be better for the genre, but there are still a few good ones on the NES. Between this time there was already Double Dragon 2, 3 and even Super Double Dragon on the SNES. Age-wise, this is a game that was released at the arcade in 1987, and in 1993 on the Atari Lynx. It's actually my least favorite of the trilogy 1 > 3 > 2. There are two negative issues with this game mainly: the nature of the gameplay, and the difficulty.
